Southwest Vacation Feb23 - Joshua Tree NP
|

One thing we didn't do yesterday in Joshua Tree NP is see the Cholla Cactus Garden. It was down in the southeast part of the park. Then Lynnette read that the sunrise at Cholla Cactus Garden is really special. Again, she talked me into getting up early to see it. The plan was to get up early, enter the Park through the 29 Palms north entrance, drive to the Cholla Cactus Garden, then exist the park at the southern gate and Interstate 10, then drive to Phoenix on I-10.
We timed it perfectly, arriving at Cholla Cactus Garden maybe ten minutes before the sun crested the mountains to the east.

The cacti were really neat. And this was the only place in the Park that we saw them. Apparently, the Garden is inthe Pinto Basin where the Mojave and Colorado Deserts meet.
Almost there.

There it is! Sunrise! | ||||||
The sun rapidly lights everything up in a golden glow.

The golden glow is gone and regular daylight has taken over. The Cholla Cacti are still pretty though.
